Context: In 2017, Lesotho and the European Commission embarked on a promising project: "Support to Reform in the Energy Sector in Lesotho (Phase I)." The driving force behind this transformation was HCL Group, with a deep commitment to improving the lives of the people of Lesotho.The project was divided into two phases. The first phase aimed to strengthen policies and institutions and test innovative approaches like energy-efficient devices and mini-grids. It laid the foundation for sustainable energy management and a brighter future.
The second phase, set for large-scale investments, seeks to expand energy access in rural areas and improve efficiency in various sectors. This initiative focuses on making energy cleaner, more affordable, and reliable for Lesotho's people.
HCL Group's efforts extended to assisting institutions like the Department of Energy and the Lesotho Electricity Corporation. The project aimed to improve governance and regulatory frameworks, promote private sector involvement, and develop energy-efficient devices and off-grid solutions.
